Q: What's the difference between this and Amazon Nation?
A: Amazon Nation is *only* for women and stresses women's empowerment as well as self defense. It's not a traditional martial art, but a self defense system. White Lion Martial Arts is Jeet Kune Do, the system created by Master Bruce Lee. Both males and females of all ages and ability levels can join White Lion.

Q: What is the teacher called?
A: In JKD, the teacher is addressed as "Sifu", which is the Chinese word for 'teacher'.

Q: What is Jeet Kune Do?
A: Master Bruce Lee created this system out of his frustrations with ultra conservative, ultra traditional martial arts. It's a blend of Wing Chun Kung Fu (the system Master Lee grew up with), boxing, grappling, and even incorporates some fencing terminology. Simply put, Jeet Kune Do is an ever changing, flowing system that stresses physical fitness, self defense and tradition all rolled into one. Q: Is this Kung Fu?
A: It has elements of Kung Fu, yes. It is not, however, a pure form of Kung Fu. I like to think of JKD as "Kung Fu Plus"...it contains the best parts of Kung Fu, and then so much more.

Q: What do I wear in class?
A: Students have the option of wearing a traditional Karate Gi or a white Kung Fu uniform. Those who choose to wear a gi will earn belts, those who choose the Kung Fu uniform will earn sashes. All students can wear Kung Fu shoes if they don't want to go barefooted, but must Test barefooted so that I can see proper foot position/technique.

Q: What is the cost?
A: Tuition for both Amazon Nation Women's Self Defense and White Lion Martial Arts (Jeet Kune Do) is as follows:

• Individual - $50.00 Canadian funds per month


• Double (two people signing up at the same time, taking class together) $45.00 CAN per month per person


• Family (up to four people taking class at the same time, having joined and signed up at the same time) $130.00 CAN per month for the group


• Local students who wish to take more than one class per week can schedule extra classes at a $5.00 per class drop in fee.
